Physical Modeling: an introduction

The first analogue electronic organ was produced many years ago. This is now outmoded... The age of the digital organ has dawned. “A new phenomenon”, is how the builders of electronic musical instruments presented this instrument. According to the experts, a better reproduction of a pipe organ just wouldn’t be impossible. However, Domus and Viscount in Italy had a different opinion and they developed Physical Modeling in collaboration with universities.

Physical Modeling is a technique that clones the voice of a real pipe organ and builds this from the base up. This is done by combining all sorts of mathematical formulas. Using this technique, we are able to create a pipe of any shape and mouth and pipe-scale! This gives a full sound that can also be heard in age-old pipe organs. This fabulous technique can be found in Domus’ latest organ, the Unico.
